Thought I might see what people think about Trans-am trucking and US. EXPRESS trucking. I have read all the horry stories with just about every large company. I have owned my own business before for several years and do not have a problem working and driving. I'm 46 years old and my wife and I love being with each other so she is coming along after my training. I'm in my last week of trucking school at South Georgia Tech. College and at the top of the class. My question is, between these two companies does anyone have some real information on them and who might be best for us. No, my wife is not going to be driving and we do not need to be back home every week. Any help will be wonderful. Also, does anyone have any information on a company that might be better for us. Thank you and God bless.
Help choosing a company.

Got a friend that worked there 3 years, and he still speaks good about it.... i prefer reefer wagon draggin so i'd point that way.
US EX likes teams. And living with someone in a truck takes extreme patience or working knowledge of where to hide bodies. -
Yeah, I'm leaning toward Trans-Am but the orientation is Dallas and US express is just north of us in Tuttle Hill Ga. I hate the thought of being teamed up with another newbie for 4-6 weeks. I actually have experiance driving a big truck delivering Oxygen tanks ect... but it was 25 years ago.

Does T/A do that ?

Do what???????????????????????????????
I worked for my Uncle 25 years ago doing that.
Do you know much about the Kenworth 660 with an automatic transmission? How do the autos drive out?Last edited by a moderator: Feb 24, 2012

i think you will be happy in a Kenworth -
Trans-Am told me 3 days of orientation then 140 hours with trainer (3weeks of so) then back for 4-5 days of more training then if everything goes well I get my truck (kenworth 660, 450hp, autotranny). Out another 8 days then home 4 days then wife can start going with me for only 10.00 per month.
US Express told me 3 days orientation, 5 weeks out with trainer, 58.00 per day, then back to get a truck with another dewbie for 6-8 weeks, sliding pay scale of .26 to .30 cents per mile.
Trans-Am was 50.00 per day in training then a flate rate of .31 cents per mile. Of course I have nothing in writing from either place so who really knows.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 24, 2012

That don't sound bad. i used to have trainees for 6 weeks, but 4 would do it if it wasn't for shifting the 10 speed.
Practice backing all you can... Good luck ! -
thank you. i have the shifting down, no problem and the backing as well. i drove 25 years ago and it came back pretty soon. ive been showing the other students in the class how to shift. what do you think about usexpress and transam. who do u think is better?
