First off I would like to thank everyone here for the vast knowledge on this forum. I have read on this forum for probably 50 hours prior to signing up. I currently work in a factory making pretty good money but I am miserable and think its time for a lifestyle change. I have read and read about most of the different companies. Now its down to choosing one. I am not sure if I am going to go though a trucking school or a community college to obtain my CDL, I guess that will depend on the company I go with and what they prefer. Here is my list of companies I have narrowed my list down to, please comment and give your opinion on each.
In no order
TMC
Roehl
KLLM
Crete
BTC
Watkins & Sheppard
Schneider
I have a pre-hire from Werner LOL
I kind of like the idea of flatbed but I am willing to start anywhere.

Crete if you can, Schneider next no opinion after that. Crete is def best choice the flat bed division is Hunt. Ackley (parent company) treats drivers nice
sweetdaddy915 Thanks this. -
Will Crete take a newbie?
-
They have before.... They are quite picky, it's worth asking
-
If I read right you have to go to one certain community college (i'm from indiana) in order for them to hire you with no experience
-
i'd check into it. i really rate Crete above the others. i worked for Shaffer and spent a lot of time in Lincoln. The Prez is nice and will take time to talk to a driver. terminal has WiFi and exercise room (during day) free Laundry and free ATM. And the pay is good for a greenhorn. Get it if you can

That's a good deal then. There are quite a few positive posts about Crete here. -
Don't count on the "company you go with " to choose a school . Prehires and a recruiter's word mean nothing . You don't go with a company until you finish their orientation and training . A large percentage of wannabes don't make it .
