Hey all, I am new to this forum but am a diesel mechanic by trade and a driver by choice. I acquired a '87 Ford L8000 that is in really nice shape except that I hate the looks and pita maintenance of Dayton hubs and I am trying to find information on converting them to budd wheels. Now here is where it gets tricky, I got the axle id's for the steer and drive axle and the vins of a few other L8000s that do have budd wheels so I am trying to find someone who might have access to the data base. What I figured is first run the VINs from my rig and from the other trucks to see if the bearings and seals are the same, if it ended up being that simple then all I'd need would be to get a hub part # but if that doesn't cross then I guess I'd need the bearing part # so I can figure out dimensions of what I have and what I need and go that route. If anyone has any input on this or can help I would VERY much appreciate it, I've tried Boyer Ford which is the biggest parts dealer for Ford, Sterling parts in the upper midwest and they have no time for anyone who doesn't have an account.

In your case a salvage yard might be your best bet. They have all the cross reference info for you and they can supply you the parts at a fraction of new.

You might call four states shop in Joplin and ask them about it . 1-888-875-7787 or 417-624-3054 and just ask to talk to the shop .

Thanks guys, marmonman what are the specs on your truck, my dad had a marmon and I wish i was older then and knew more so I could have helped him with it, his had a Big Cam Cummins at 425hp with a 15spd and I think it was a 76" bunk that was heavy as hell.
