Lord have mercy!! I have had nothing but issues with this code continuing to pop up!!

    Engine 2 SPN 102 FMI 18
    Air Intake System Problem Detected
    25% Derate

2016 FL Cascadia DD15 13 spd and it’s still under warranty. I’ve lost count on how many times it’s been to the dealership with this same issue. They told me it was my DOC. They told me to drive min 1550-1650 rpms. I’ve done this and yet it still comes on. I recently replaced my DPF. What am I doing wrong? I’ve done what they told me to do.

I’m not 500 miles then the engine light comes on, then not too much later that same code pops up!!!
How is it that the different FL dealerships fix it temporarily but then it happens soon after? It happened to me in Phonenix Az. I wasn’t down the road 100 miles and the same code popped up.

Did they do a pressure test on the cold air intake hoses?

I’m new at this. First time O/O. I’m not sure if they did. But I can ask when I go back. They said the code is generic and could be more than just the DOC. Well hell after 4 times you think they’d figure it out by now

As I mentioned before, mechanics now a days, if the computer doesn't tell them what is wrong, they are lost... what area are you in?

I also was also told to idle up during my 10 hr break to 1000 rpms to help with the soot build up. Is that ok on the engine?

I haul liquid chemicals and need to keep their temps regulated plus living in Texas yes I will run my truck LOL

Idling diesel engines is hard on them. Engine manufacturers actually recommend bumping up the idle. I will not hurt the engine. I aways bump my idle up to 800. I think 1000 is too high and will burn too much fuel.

I don't know any good places in your area. If you ever made it to the north east I could send you to a good place

Thank you I agree a 1000 is crazy. Mine idles at 800.
What’s your opinion on Diesel Force Treatment? It’s supposed to clean out your engine and your after treatments from all the soot and carbon.

Are the engineers at Detroit Diesel involved with local dealership to resolve problem? I have seen where local technician needs help from corporate to solve problem. Plus, it helps to insure all the testing is done. Looks like there is about 49 steps in the core diagnostics.
