My husband just got his CDL in Dec. I am a retired school teacher but I want to get my cdl also. My husband has a clean DMV and I have 1 speeding ticket. Our problem is my husband has a felony charge that was committed in 2006 but he was not charged until 2009. He is a very good man he just got depressed and mixed up with drugs and alcohol. He has gone through a rehab and is now looking for another chance at life. We both are hard workers and do the right thing.
We have no children and want to become team drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Might be kind of tough, for him.
Start filling out applications, if you haven't already..

wow, in know ffe hires folks with felonies, and they'd prob like a team but that will mean both of you going through their refresher course at the very min before yall could team. now i don't have any experience with c.r. england but from what i've read, i'd make that a very last choice. best of luck to ya both.

What companies has your husband applied to?Your husband may be a good man now I don't doubt that for one second. But im not a recruiter. He'll have to answer to them.Chances are considering its only been a few yrs ago since hes been charged,it may be tough finding a job.Companies could care less if hes a good man and chaged his life around. Its safety that his application goes thru, then their insurance company.Alot of channels before you receive the final decision. All I can say is keep applying and hope for the best.

Thank you Patty. We have applied to so many. Very Depressing!

Tell your husband not to mention his history of depression to the doctor doing his DOT medical exam. DOT does have restrictions about drivers with/or a history of depression which can disqualify him forever. Most doctors who do DOT medical exams usually don't read the full rules about depression and therefore just wholesale disqualify drivers without even asking any questions. Some even call your state DMV and have the CDL removed from your for disqualifying reasons and some just tell the company hiring you and in turn they put it on your DAC and send you home.
see FMCSRA sub-section 391.41(b)(9)Lonewarrior Thanks this. -
Tell him to talk to the judge that sentenced him either in person or by letter and explain the same story to him he may just be impressed enough to help get his felony removed...
