Lets toss all the god stuff, the drug stuff and all the rest aside for a moment and please offer us what has drawn you to the idea of entering the transportation field when you are already a trained professional (Nurse was it?) and what YOU think are the big selling points of entering the career field and especially into the team driving aspect of the career field and what IT's benefits to you would be or what you think they would be. I'm being honest here because frankly I DO care about people and do my best to keep the uniformed and starry eye'd wannabe's feet planted squarely in reality and not something that they have been sold as some dream job when its anything BUT the job that they think that it is.

I was a special ed school teacher. I retired after teaching in georgia for 25 years because we moved in South Carolina. I could not get a job because of my credentials. The economy has made it difficult to get job. My husband was a farmer for 15 + years. Could not make a stable living. I have always wanted to be a trr uck driver to meet and ride to see the rest of the world. My husband loves to handle big machinery and trucks have been a dream for him as well. We both like to move around and like changes. We are both hard workers. like to please people. enjoy meeting all kind of people. It would be a steady job, we can be together working as a team. Eventually we would like to get our own truck. I guess to answer your question is to step out on faith and follow a life time dream...maybe what we were suppose to do in the first place.

Typical response of someone who wants to blame others for their "misfortunes" and don't want to take responsibility for their actions. You made the mess, you solve it.

Like the previous poster stated, I don't want someone who can't handle their emotions behind the wheel of an 80,000lb machine.

OK, lets try a little homework then. I would like everyone to try this before they get into any training school as an attempted team. If you are in a home with an actual laundry room with doors on it. You will need a TV or monitor and a game console with ANY of the driving / racing simulators preferably one that you can get into a mode where you drive one of the longer tracks for hours at a time (some have 24 hour races). Pick a slow stock type care with no mods. Get a fairly comfortable office chair that is on a pedestal. The monitor or TV goes on the dryer and the chair in front of both. The driver is to stay behind the wheel for a set period of time, say 5 hours. The "driver" is responsible for keeping the "engine" / dryer going at all times they are "driving". For good sound effects put a couple of tennis shoes in the dryer and run it on tumble so it won't get too hot. While the driver drives, the other team member will need a cot or a futon that will fit in the laundry room and will be directly behind the driver and "rest" while the drier tumbles and the game is being played for the entire five hours.. if the driver has to use the bathroom, you have to stop the game and the dryer, leave the laundry room go outside and walk at least 100 yards then they can come in and use the restroom. Meals will be a bit of a change too. You cannot prepare anyfood in the kitchen (ie real food). Others may cook for you if you can get them to play, but one or both of you would be eating together and the same rule of going outside and walking 75 - 100 yards before sitting at the table and eating the meal. You CAN prepare snacks and sandwiches and other truck friendly foods as the truck moves down the road. Showers can only be taken on the second day. 5 hour shifts of driving and resting should be a good thing to try.. but you must be in the room or the "miles do not count. You should try this for an entire weekend. At the end of this period of time you may get some of the flavor of what life is like as a team driver. I could add even more rules and have even more fun with this, but I think this ought to be a part of trucking schools.. they ought to have truck cabs that the students live in for the entire school and a shower and café or walking distance to a fast food joint.

If you want to work as a team and avoid your current issues getting a CDL job you can always look into hot-shotting (aka expediting) in your own extended Sprinter van. I researched the hell out of it and decided it wasn't for me but there are some husband/wife teams that post on this very useful forum: http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/forum.php. Some people have made it work, others haven't.

    Just throwing it out there...

The DAC is gonna be out played soon have you heard about the new.... http://www.psp.fmcsa.dot.gov/Pages/default.aspx, it's a responabity of the company now to report their comp., and who they hire, and who was dissmissed, a driver can order his own record to, I do not know much, I am very new, like the newest newbie, but in the long run I want to be safe, first and foremost, thanks for all the wonderful advice

WRONG>>>>breaking the law is a choice , not a mistake.....sorry to say that...... but these folks need to hear the truth...they will NOT be received with open arms by any decent company.....not to say they can't be hired , but why spend all the time , effort and money to only find out your chances aren't any good at all to find a good , decent paying trucking job....

The woman posting would indeed be welcomed and may easily fulfill her desire / "dream" of driving professionally.. she is simply hamstrung and limited by her choice of partners..

Here we have another rookie who expects everyone to "look past" the OP's "Mistakes" and give a license to operate a cmv IN PUBLIC , on a highway with all of our families.....I'm sorry the rest of us shouldn't have to subject not only our safety but anyone else's to those who have already proven by their felony convictions , that they aren't responsible enough , or just don't care how their irresponsibility will effect others......
