    Pretty much sums up my viewpoint. I don't know what prompted the OP's husband to use drugs and quite frankly I don't care. I am getting sick and tired of the notion that this industry is a rest haven for felons who can't find work elsewhere, and also the notion that we should feel sorry for them. I don't feel sorry for them. They need to know the truth before they waste their money getting a useless CDL. Even if the OP bought her own truck, she's going to have a hard time getting her husband insured to drive.

    Exactly my point Ghost Ryder , I'm 63 years old , never seen the inside of a jail cell , served my country was even wounded in the process. Paid my bills , raised my kids , all the while staying out of trouble. And I feel if someone asks for my opinion and I give it , don't expect me to be PC in my methods , the OP's husband made some bad choices , all by himself , I don't recall her saying that he was forced to commit those crimes....Now they/her expect to come on a forum and get feel-good answers from those of us that kept our records clean , and felony free so they can justify those choices...Nope not gonna get it from me....

    HotH2o and Ghost Ryder Thank this.

    Not just these days.. I used to have classrooms full of experts who would tell me how things where "out there"... then went went out and showed them how to do things like "release the brakes"

    Thats foolish. I spent seven years in prison for foolishness from my youth. I've busted my #####, started a family, made the sacrifices necessary to climb out of the hole, both personally and financially. I don't give a rats about your opinion of me. I'm proof that just because someone makes a questionable decision or does something and is faced with negative consequences, they can over come... Did YOUR mom kill herself while YOU were in prison? So don't judge someone personally based solely on text in a forum where they are looking for advice, not someone else to tell them why they "can't or shouldn't" do something because your high and mighty. It's either offer the solicited advice... Or keep your negative stuff to yourself. Your OPINION was not solicited. Companies who might hire a team with a felon, was solicited. So don't fool yourself into believing that simply because someone has a felony, that they will always be a scumbag.

    I'm sorry for your loss, Bubba.

    These threads have a tenancy to bring out the people who don't understand the term "Sentence Served".

    I fully believe that there are those that have/can be productive citizens after they've served their time. And honestly, for those that feel that it can't happen, they need to look around them a bit. I know many people that have served their time, learned from their mistakes and corrected the issues in their life and gone on to become incredible people. Some of them include "mentoring" those that are either in the system, or newly released inmates, to keep them on the right path.

    Too many people are in a hurry to judge everyone that has any type of crime in their background. :biggrin_25526:

    "It is what it is" as they say. And "it is" ignorance... Plain and simple, to hold someone's bad decisions from the past against them for eternity.

    "You don't have to like me... But you WILL respect me"

    Well you guys are completely entitled to your views..absolutely. I won't argue with either one of you. But I'm also entitled to mine. when a driver or a drivers wife , kid , mother , Dad or whoever asks a question and I feel that I want to give my view then I will. If you don't agree that's fine , we're all adults. I agree that people make really bad choices in life , and some can be rehabilitated and re-join society and become productive , but for some one who has committed some crimes that are either violent , or show they have no respect for others property or lives...anything drug related or DUI/DWI , them I'm sorry they don't deserve the privilege of a CDL....with a CDL comes great RESPONSIBILITY , and IMO some felonies should dis-qualify a person from getting one , just like the right/privilege to own a firearm , or the right/privilege to vote.

    Bubbamoore , you can take this for what is worth man , I never meant to offend or judge anyone. I merely stated my view/opinion. I'm sorry that your Mom is gone too. But as you stated you yourself have had to serve time , and you too will soon find out that my view is not all that wrong...by that I mean you're going to find it hard to get a "decent " job in trucking , I'm pretty sure that with a felony conviction you won't be able to get a pass-port , or a Twic card , or a Hz-mat endorsement , I may be in-correct , for your sake I hope so. But if I'm correct those facts are gonna close many , many doors to you. It doesn't make that much difference to me either whether you value my opinion or not , but I'm not the one here getting ugly , haven't called you any names , or used pseudo profanity , just told you how I see this. I never did any thing like the statement you made..here it is just to refresh your memory....
    {quote{ Some of you people are 1) ignorant, which like stupidity, isn't a disease. 2) unsympathetic to someone else's misfortunes and short comings, and 3) being extremely counter productive. I believe that the question on the table was about where one could find a second chance company. Not, "will you people who never GOT CAUGHT making mistakes or breaking the law,( Cus let's face it... If you we're completely honest with yourself, never mind the rest of us, you made mistakes and broke some law at some point. None of us are perfect) please judge me and my family and continue this thread about how big of a scumbag u believe we are? "
    So either offer the solicited advice or keep your negativity. I'd bet your probably the same kinda guys who hit my rig while I wasn't in it, and took off...
    "If your not part of the solution, your just another part of the problem."{quote}

    I only gave the OP and you what I think are completely truthful views of the up-hill battle that all convicted felons face once they attempt to go the CDL route. Wasn't being judgmental , don't need to be , I'm retired now , so what you guys do doesn't affect me at all. I was only telling you what you need to hear, and not what you may want to , I'd rather a man tell me the truth about what I'm fixing to face , than hear him sugar coat it...You do as you see fit man....Happy Trails and Good Luck.

    By the way Bubba.....respect is earned not just given....looks like the time in jail didn't teach you much.

    No, the assumption that a carrier which on a good day faces the threats of legal issues from every angle every day to no take on more risk that necessary for the sake of "saving" someone with a hard luck story is the issue here. To bastardize those trying to tell these people the truth is the problem and telling these people that they past shouldn't matter is childish and doesn't speak the truth.. you want fantasy stories were miracles happen and people are forgiven for all their past choices.. head for the religion section of the forum and pretend with those people.
