I'd rather 4x4 my ProStar cross country in the Mojave than run that 6x6 across a smooth as glass highway. You're far more adventurous than I.

hey mate havnt heard of oshkoshs for years they still have them over there lol,we had one here carting logs back in the late 80s 6+4 cab over 8-71 detroit ex australian millitry,pretty hardy truck bit like internationals of that era

Donner or 58-99....six of one, half dozen of the other. Only difference is, weather's likely to be better across 40.
Fastest way that direction would be 70 to St Louis, 44 to Oklahoma City (excellent chicken at exit 179 in Missouri) 40 to Barstow, 58 to Bakersfield and then 99 north. This adds about 175 miles to the trip vs going 70 to 74 to 80. -

Exit 179 in Mo. is near Rolla, on I-44, Springfield is exit 72, 80 etc.
