Don't weigh every load that's BS... Coming from the west coast if its produce I would say yes weigh it, but if its frozen or general freight that's on pallets and shrink wrapped you should be good... Anyone who weighs every load that weighs 27,000 lbs is nuts... The general rule of thumb is set the tandems about 2 holes forward of the last pallet, you should be fine... That's just me... I can only speak for me but unless the bills say the load is 40,000+ I will not and have never weight it... Waist of time... Pay the $150 a year or so and become a member of drivers legal plan that will get you a attorney on retainer for unforeseen circumstances.... If the bills say 27K and most trucks can haul 44K+ obviously there is something wrong... I couldn't see any company telling a driver to weigh a load that is rated on the bills at 27K, that's an absolute waist of time and money, lets keep it real. I cant imagine being on E-logs and having to sit at a scale and wait for the incompetent idiot that is parked on the scale, while he is inside paying for the ticket, using the bathroom, and stuffing his face with $1 McDoubles.... Nah Not me...

Your ticket, were you cited for exceeding the Gross Vehicle Weight law or exceeding axle weight?

(If, you were cited for axle weight, the fine wont be too bad. If you were cited by exceeded Gross Vehicle Weight...eh, i'll take the wait n see approach.)
