Thanks guys. I just checked and it IS a decal. I can remove it with a fingernail but the view underneath is really rough/ugly/unfinished it seems...so maybe I wont go removing this just yet...

Its definately an L, it is a nice truck, take good care of it and it will take good care of you, welcome to the long hood club.
Hanadarko Thanks this. -
My KW also shows "B model" .But its a L . Heh ...... i wondered the same thing when i bought it. Glad you started this thread. It cleared up my question on it.
Hanadarko Thanks this. -
Kingpins shouldn't be $1500. The parts are around $300 and it only takes about an hour a side.
-
They are hitting you with some high shop rates ...Kingpins isnt that big of a job with everyday hand tools and common knowledge you can do the yourself
-
KW = $1150 for labor
TC = $1000 for labor
Both claim its an 8hr job. $113/hr is what KW charges..
Neither included the $300 three-axle alignment.
Best I could find was a guy in MO that would do it for $600 plus parts which while is cheaper, isnt all that good given the fuel I would use and hotel I would need. He came very well recommended but unless I file for food stamps and sell them on the black market...$ just isnt there right now for me.
Then I called Wingfoot..they did my tires and have a good reputation for doing this work - he quoted me $1300 for everything and that he would use something like "Kaiser" parts....I dont recall. Either way I don't have the funds right now...new tires and AC work really set me back.
Specs are .015 on the driver side and .027 on the passenger side. I was told DOT limit was .015 and a match=fail.
I've put over $15k cash into this truck since I picked it up.......
I got all of the DOT items corrected but the kingpins. Then it will pass DOT in full. -
How did you find the guy in MO and is he good ? if he is then I would give him a try if not keep looking 1000.00 is kinda steep for shop labor and thats what the book calls for is 8 hrs .When unless it is a pain to work on it should only take about 4 hours I have done several kingpins and never took over 4 hrs to do aset....Keep looking and try find a local truck mechanic he should do you better than KW ..THey are out there just got to find them
-
I have asked around locally. Got nowhere. I posted on Craigslist. Got nowhere.....
So I am not sure right now. The friend who gave me this 'tip' got upset with me when I told him I had no funds. I mean he was giving me a deal and trying to help, but even if it was $300, I cant afford it at the moment. -
I understand and if it is still gonna cost around a grand I might just go ahead and let KW do the work and be home cause as you said the trip there motel eats and all gonna be that much or more .At least with 1300. you will be home

I am budgeting $1500 for this work, when the time comes...Whenever that is..
