Reservoir has been changed. Coolant level sensor has been changed. Drained and added new coolant. New filter installed. No leaks. Just randomly pops on. I pull over and wait 2 min start truck and it goes away. Went away for 900 miles and then pops on again. Please help.

The light doesn’t stay on. When I pull over I turn the engine off for maybe a min and then I can drive until it pops back on. I drove 900 miles, and through Pennsylvania and it didn’t come on once.

Paccar is notorious for garbage coolant tanks and sensors. I put 4 of them on a 2016 pete in a 3 year period and atleast 6 or 7 sensors.

If it is turning on and off randomly , it may just be the coolant level is right at the level where it is kicking the low coolant sensor on and then it will turn off again. My old truck would do that, you can top it off and somehow it will disappear back down to that level again and will stay there.

It’s the wire to the plug at the sensor. All our 880s have had this same problem over time. The wiring is really thin and gets hard over time. Paccar didn’t leave a lot of slack when running the wires at the front of the engine. The get hard and crack within the plastic. It may seem that it’s connected when in fact it’s probably broken along the way. Change the whole wiring harness from the sensor plug the harness. You can find a replacement on eBay that’s longer than what the dealership sells for around 30$
