I had a kid show up with chains running between his nose and his ears. He had neck tattoos. He wore sandals and baggy shorts. He called me dude...a lot. I was tempted to hire him just for the pleasure of watching him try to shovel four or five yards of riverwash, but couldn't figure out how I'd sneak him by a client.

    This is a good thread.

CenturyClass I never meant to insult your intellegence or question what I know you learned in the military. That is where my footwear and clean-shaven comment came from and it's been about 35 years.

To me footwear speaks the loudest about someone. When I was hiring for service work, footwear and the inside of your car told me how neat you were. How neat your were told whether you did enough to get by or just a bit more.

I do hope some others, possibly without military backgrounds, stumble onto this thread and take a little something away with them.

Let me tell you, it's VERY refreshing to see someone that cares about their appearance and wants to project a good image. Good for you and I wish you the very best of luck!:biggrin_25514:

First and foremost, thank you for your service.

That said I'm a fan of the long sleeve cotton button down (1 solid color - I prefer earth tones) with new blue jeans, shined leather boots. And not to seem like a nerd or anything a nice looking pen in the shirt pocket. Nothing flashy but not the 20/$1 type either.

This is actually how I show up to shippers as well but I add a small spiral notepad to the pocket.

Me? Jeans (clean, no holes) button shirt (dickies are my choice) work boots and my Retired AF hat.

Of course, that's what I wear on a daily basis too... I got too used to a uniform I guess.

No offense taken BigJohn and BigJDub you're welcome.

I reallly appreciate all the feedback guys.

And whether we admit it or not, we judge people by their apperance before we do anything else. Its almost reflexive.

Gears, BigJohn54 and Lonesome Thank this.
