    Background:

    7 degrees and snowy
    New Galaxy 929
    Small linear
    4foot fire stick
    Both wired directly to battery

    Issue(s):

    Yesterday when I first start driving, I hear almost nothing on the channel. Very very light static even with squelch down and volume up. If I key the mic, static roars in. This happened on another old radio too... But not the next issue. So they may be separate problems.

    Next issue, driving along and all of a sudden I'm getting tons of static... Then my receive pegs all the way to the right and I'm getting some crazy sounds. I turn noise blanker off and it goes away. Turn noise blanker on and receive needle pegs to the right.

    Now it's working fine.

    Transmit was good the whole time.

    Help!

    Check to see if your antenna is shielded from your mount. Getting the little plastic washer on there wrong is an easy thing to do. Probably not your issue. But worth a look and is a free fix if it is the problem. I did it. Got all sorts of symptoms from it.

    Did you try turning the amp off and see if issue is still there when running the radio barefoot?
