No, except you'll have to change your cdl to whichever state you choose as your domicile.
Private CDL schools and trucking company cdl schools are pretty much the same.
Community College cdl schools and Technical schools are really good and cheap.

Tons of companies will foot the school bill if you sign on with them for a year or more.
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming are state income tax free, so should easily be able to find a company that will hire you.
Most big trucking companies are all automatic fleets, plus most have pet rider policy, but be prepared to pay a pet deposit, honestly going to Canada nothing special. I have been out since Dec 28th and they love it, they just ask where do you want to go next...
If you don’t sit all the time, weekly pay is not bad, I get between 1100-1400 weekly, bi-weekly you make more total so they will tax more of it.
Flat beds don’t always make more, I drove for Melton for a while, and it was a lot of 300 mile runs twice a week, hauling refer I have my next two loads already scheduled and they let me run as much as I want. You can only drive 11 hours a day, so I try to get a few miles walking around the truck stops. Fee free to ask any more questions. -
Flatbedding only makes more if you haul equipment. Otherwise, you will be hauling steel coils and plastic pipes for cheap and they will most likely require you to tarp. Tarping can be fun, until it's not. So, I would say go to any company that hauls equipment or anything with a engine. Stay away from the mega carriers who mostly haul steel coils and cheap pipe.
Zanadu Thanks this. -
He'll be a company driver, so freight rates won't affect his pay.Zanadu Thanks this.
