Don't get your panties in a bunch, Younger man? Who is younger you or I? I am 27 years old young.

For the record...I'm 50, and have driven since '96 with a 3+ year break. I've also done several other things besides drive.

Thats great I appreciate your genuine truthfulness but still don't see why the other carriers wouldn't be a good choice to run with, I have lived up north all my life and hate the fact even driving a automobile to the city makes me squirm. I rather take the path, and walk the blocks rather then drive. To have a job and to do this on a regular basis would be a extreme fatigue to my body. I'm not trying to kill myself for a few extra bucks, I rather have my health this is a secured way of thinking for me and my loved ones

Try look at hauling garbage or demolition from the city into Pa. Kephart trucking. Tully hauls sludge....you can make some money if you hustle.

I dont know how long you have drove and if you have done takner before. I do know FedEX and UPS are contracted and If you drive their biger trucks you have to work in the warehouse for a while. They mostly hire from with in.

you are 1 year older than me and you are afraid of foodservice? that makes no sense, do you have health problems? have bad knees or a bad back?

I told you in one of my first replies that I work foodservice, and i make less than what you posted that the mcdonalds guys get.Why do you think i keep talking you into it? I remember when i first went through CDL school, everyone just "knew" that flatbedding was dangerous and not worth the money. BS. it pays better and gets you home more than dry van otr. The same applies here. The "popular opinion" is that foodservice will kill you. more horsesht. Its no more strenuous than peddling motor freight with a pallet jack, bumping docks all day, or using a liftgate. As long as you don't try it , you will never know, will you? If you are that worried about it, ask if you can try it for a day first.

I get a decent wage for where i'm at, in Buffalo, and you know what? the work never slows down. as long as i want to go stack boxes onto a hand truck, run them down a foodservice ramp and push them into a c store, they are happy to have me.

So lets hear it, let me know what company this is that you are so against all of a sudden, even though you put them in top 4. is it GSF? with those white sterlings? Thats who handles the mcdonalds around here.

lol I am not afraid of the work just the commute to the city is what I despise. they are my top as far as pay rate goes. Will I make a interview to see how it is? ''Yes" I just read a pamphlet about the pay rate, and benefits I gathered by doing a Google search, and everything looks wonderful. I might give it a shoot that is if I pass their road test. I haven't driven a truck nearly 2 years. I didn't know you could reach seniority after 60 days, I thought it was going to take 6 months for some reason. How are you living is it comfortable? Are you paid on a union scale?

for the area, yep, its comfortable. i don't work for a big, international company, just a smaller, one terminal operation. We are Teamsters, and we get paid well for what the prevailing wage is around Buffalo. We won't be at what you are at for quite a while, but Buffalo's wages are lower than most places in the country, so I can't really complain. we are also based on a 4 day 10 hour (in theory!) work week, so its good to get the extra day off.

I just came back from a interview with tex union, and they wanted to hire me. The pay rate is similar to yours already gone, the cost of living would be different from me, and you because of the parts of states we reside so don't take anything being said against you. it's a 4 day work week the rate is 18 a hour, that would be perfect if I lived in a poverty area since I live in the suburbs that wouldn't be enough for me to survive on. The package benefits is great, the pay just plain out sucks especially for a union wage,

I understand, living is cheap around buffalo, like you said, poverty area, lol, next to the city, #### that! Thats how everything works around buffalo, you make less than every other major city around! the steel haulers get paid a lower percentage, the hourly rate for ltl/foodservice is lower, everything!

there are better places to go. around here, that would be a good wage, but for you, where you are, no way. unfortunately, there are companies that pay much less, even where you are at. maybe it will be a decent job for someone else. is the mcdonalds job GSF? i have seen them at mcdonalds late at night, is that the same company you are talking about?
