help need advise or help

    am trying to attend school in jan 2009 ,but school says need a letter of intent or pre hire from a trucking company to get my federal financial aid released to pay for my tution.not sure if this correct or there blowing off.
    2nd problem is i have misdemeanor conviction in feb 2009 for 2nd degree assualt after verbal argument with ex wife.
    i also have a misdemeanor conviction for handgun on person in dec 2000
    for not having my handgun properly secured when got stopped and police searched me. am i screwed as far as getting hired by an trucking company or getting my training

    Most schools take anyone, as they are all looking to make money. Some of those issues you have listed may very well result in you not being hired.

    You may want to talk to some companies before getting into school I hate to say. The handgun thing could be real bad, not sure though,and the assault charge can hurt but at least they weren't felonies. Good Luck!!!

    i had to have three pre-hires before my state would pay for my CDL schooling. most carriers will do this, just go to various trucking web sites and fill out their application. i got 8 pre-hires before i ever started school. like the others said though ... not sure bought the run ins with the law.
