Whatever you wind up getting for layover and/or detention, make absolutely sure that it is all submitted to Uber within 24 hours of the delivery, or they will not pay you ANYTHING for the extra time. Call them after the delivery is done and have them walk you through the process.

**UPDATE** I spoke to the receiver and scheduled an appointment myself, while receiving messages from Uber saying they are trying to reach the receiver but are not getting an answer. I have no problem calling and speaking to shipper or receiver, the problem is that most brokers do not want the carrier speaking to them. (Fear of losing customers) But in this case I had no choice and did what had to be done.

Good for you. Yeah, sometimes you need to take matters into your own hands to get the job done. Uber has idiots working for them.

I had an Uber load yesterday. After getting loaded and getting the papers, I saw on the BOL it said "protect from freezing", which was not in the rate confirmation.
With the temperature going down to 25 degrees, I couldn't not guarantee that the load wouldn't freeze and shipper took it off from my dry van. The day got wasted.
Then the fun part started. I spoke to two different overseas customer support people and explained what happened. Yet, I had like three other people call me during the night asking why am I not driving to the receiver.
If everything goes well, then Uber is alright to use, but any single problem will take many hours or days to resolve.
For example if you have a wrong pickup number, you might just cancel the load and leave, because nobody will get back to you till next day or so.
They have to figure something out about resolving problems quicker

In my opinion, if you don't know a broker really well or are using automated (Convoy/Uber/etc.) you've always got to take matters in to your own hands.

OP, glad you got it resolved. Hopefully you learned from this one that you've got to do your own communicating. Don't trust a broker, especially Uber from all we've heard, to do everything right for you unless you know them and their reputation.

dont use this kind of brokerage service. you may not like tlaking to traditional brokers on the phone but youre only adding to the chaos that is killing the industry by being a bit lazy & not calling brokers that have been around a long time.

I quit doing business with these boutique brokerages, Convoy and Uber. Why you ask? I got tired of phone calls in the middle of the night from people I can't understand asking me questions. With both of those if there's a problem with the load, they don't have a problem, you do. Uber screwed me out of detention twice, never again. I want to do business with people who speak the same language I do and know how to resolve problems in a timely manner.
