Any one who is coming into this industry with a poorly preconceived notion that ELDs are a problem but paper logs are not, and expecting to be an owner will be out of business very fast. It shows a shallow understanding of what it takes to be in business in this industry.
I am thinking that the latest few articles about the investment in the trucking industry by tech investors to tap into the ~$700B markets seems to triggering a lot of people to think that they can come into it and capture some of that money. It is going to be interesting on the repo market in the next couple years with the amount of failures as rates crash.

If i have the money why not own my own rig? I understand what ur saying but can you give details about why my money will vaporize as soon as i buy a truck? It seems like its pretty easy to find loads and ive been driving local for over 5 years. Maybe i should drive local loads if this OTR thing is impossible. It seems like the economics of owning a truck makes sense to me just like uber drivers make more than yellow cab and have more freedom. Hoping there is some owner operators out there that dont think im crazy and hoping people are jealous that they cant own there own truck lol. The headaches of buying and maintaining a truck seem less than working for a company and the investment seems small. But i would love to hear details about why most owner operators fail. I know 1 out of 5 restaurants fail in first year. I operated a profitable food business for 3 years and I thought this industry was less risky. Apparently im missing something please let me know how im going to lose my money. If i buy a used truck and even just drive a couple years cant i sell the truck then and still profit from those 2 years of driving?

hope you let the advice sink in. you already gave a red flag. best of luck to you either way!Long FLD and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
Youre either a troll, or you're as dense as a block of lead. I would heed the advice of these guys, especially @Ridgeline . With your attitude, experience and expectations, you'll be in the poorhouse in 1 to 2 years. Then you can look back at TTR, and go "Dang, those guys were right!". You think the trucking business isnt risky? Come back in 1 year and tell us that same line of bs again. Best wishes!

And I think you're using the "I dont know how to use an ELD" as a crutch to run paper logs. If you NEED to run illegally to make ends meet, you're doing it wrong. Tell us again that trucking is a less risky business.
Tb0n3 and bryan21384 Thank this. -
