Yes sir, that’s the plan on Monday. Plus, if the filter is totally clogged, it does have a filter bypass valve. We checked it. It seemed in good working order and was clean.

Hey, the pickup tube cracks where soldered, seen this enough. Forget about the relief valves, misc, etc...
Drop the pan and inspect the pu tube. Times a wasting, no roll-no mula !!

Bet your engine is anchor now. You said mains were done 138K ago. Someone did something wrong. It start develop oil pressure drop. The final straw was dry start after oil filter change. Look for bearings out on the bottom or overhead.

Well, pan is off. Pressure relief valve is jammed slap all the way up inside pump and will not come out for nothing. Replacing with brand new oil pump and new pickup tube also.
Will update tomorrow -
No other shrapnel in the pan? That is usually what jams the regulator in the pump

Any thoughts on pulling a rod and main bearing cap to check bearings and crankshaft.

Mattmanstroked Thanks this.

Replaced with brand new oil pump. New oil and filter. Engine is running great. Oil pressure @ 675 rpms is 25 psi, running down the highway @1400 rpms 35 psi. Running smooth and nice. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.
bzinger, Mattmanstroked and Roberts450 Thank this. -
Hope your shop shimmed the pump gear lash. I'd be taking the old one apart to find out what happened.
spsauerland Thanks this.
