Whats the difference between driving my truck and driving a standard transmission in a car? I'm supposed to test drive one today and I figured I'd just wing it.

I know this is supposed to be strictly trucks, but I figured this would be a good laugh at least!

6 speeds of confusion, here I come. No double clutching, no floating? Shifts in a straight line, with no neutral in the middle?

Geeze.... this is going to be confusing.....

For one you will find pushing the clutch in a car very easy after driving a truck.

You'll need to use the throttle when taking off from a stop or else it'll stall. When you shift up, just clutch in and go to the next gear, then release. Downshift is the same. Clutch in, drop a gear and clutch out. Sometimes I'll blip the throttle with the clutch in when downshifting just to make it easier on the clutch when I let it out but its not really neccessary to do that.

Well, you can double clutch if you want, it won't hurt anything, but whoever is with you will think your crazy. And you actually can float in a car, but you have to be very precise, and if you mess up, you will cause damage, so it's not recommended until you really know the car.

The problem with driving a car with a stick shift after driving a truck is you will be trying to double clutch it. Then when you get back in the truck you're going to be grinding gears. The car trans is synchroed and the truck is not.

When you get in the truck say "Wow, haven't seen one of these since the truck antique show!"

Of course I do! I've just never driven a standard transmission 4 wheeler before and I'm in the market for a new (used) car.

I also never knew that it is considerably cheaper to buy a car out of state and have it shipped.... I'm test driving here and if I can't low ball the dealer, I'm having it shipped from Texas.
