OK Granny....Here's the way I do it!
I don't recap! I start checkin' my hours around the middle of the week with my trusty calculator and I don't write them anywhere...When I get down to the last day, I run the available hours...Stop and do a restart and do it all again!
I now run looseleaf logs and my previous 7 are in there as well as my current day and if the DOT wants to know what I've been running, He can do the math 'cause I'm not doin' it for him!
You don't need to show anything in the recap area, You just need to make sure you don't go over your 70...
Tell Gramps to take a pill, It's not worth getting worked up over!rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
watch out with not doin a recap .... dot is startin to write for it .....after a 34 I dont even show them the last 8 days .... its a whole reset, just make sure you have the sheet for the reset period in there .... I once handed one sheet to a DOT cop that asked for my logbook .... I wish I would have taken a picture of the expression on his face ,,,it was priceless

There is no law stating that I have to do a re-cap. -
I was gonna say it but I just didn't feel like arguin'!
The law is that you can't go over your hours...How you accomplish that is up to you!
I have never run a written recap and have never even had a cop look for it...They just go back through the pages and add'em up!
Have you ever seen a ticket for it?
NO!
But I'll bet you heard some clown on the CB radio or in the lounge runnin' his neck about it!
That's where all the BS starts!Injun and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
The seven-day recap is for our use only and DOT might look at it, but cannot write anything for it. (Even though some rookie might try.)
Regarding the 34 ending after the day started: I don't bother filling in the hours at all on that day's recap. It doesn't matter anyway because I just finished a 34 and I have a fresh 70. I've never heard a single word about it from DOT, Swift, Prime or Celtic.
So, Ms. Nana, continue with the "I Was Right" dance, but let Mr. Granddad have his too. Because you are both right.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
Thank you every one!
Injun.....I've never had a single word said to me either. In fact, every time any DOT or trooper has looked at my log they've complimented me. It's just one of those little bitty things married couples fuss about when they've got no real problem. LOL
But you're crazy if you think I'm telling Grandad he's right too. NO NO I'm joking I already told him. LOLInjun Thanks this. -
