Usually. It typically makes it easier loading / unloading because the back isn't dropping 4 to 6 inches at a whack.

I always ask. Sometimes sliding them back will make the opening too high for the dock.

The original post is one of my worst fears. I've seen more than a few guys THRASH on trailers, nice new trailers, only because they hate their own existence.

I can't imagine having a nice reefer. Zomg. I'd be in jail.

A lot of the dedicated paper mill trailers on the west coast run triple axles on the trailer to support the weight.
I suspect that very well maybe a good idea. Trailers that have the triple setup also have beefer frames and floors.

They only run 3 axle trailers in states that let them haul more weight. You can get the same heavy built trailers in 2 axle too. Most carriers do not want them because of weight.

Even back when I worked for May in 2003 or so, I used to pickup paper rolls on the west side of Idaho, stuck to high heaven, great country side but really smelled, The 3 axle pull really nice and smooth.

It was funny, you could smell those paper mills for miles when the wind was right, but once inside them it was not near as bad.
Mushroom farm or plant what ever you call them is the same way, make you sick 5 miles from it, pull in the gate and it wasn't all that bad.

I hold back my judgement because it is subjective at best.

I have however seen forklifts get stuck in trailers because the floor was so rotted and the metal under it was so rusted that it could have fallen through if it wasn't for the frame. I also seen other fleet owners cry about bent threshold plates because the trailer was so badly beaten up they thought it was going to hold up to bad forklift drivers who beat the hell up of any trailer.

They won't bend if the posts and sidewalls are in good shape. He stated that the trailer already had bulging, which tells me that the posts were already bent. This is a disaster waiting to happen in a dry van. They have no strength when the posts are damaged.

Exactly why I'm not buying a new reefer. I spent a #### ton of time repairing the scuff plates and walls in my old trailer, only to have them torn up again in a week. I think their reasoning is, "Well, this is an old trailer. It doesn't matter if I slide a ####ing pallet against the wall the whole ####### length of the trailer."

I'd be in jail the first time some #### for brains scratched a $70k trailer.

Just based off actual experience, vs what an uncle has told me, rather keep answers to what I have seen, As the song say's, I maybe right, but then again I maybe crazy, either way is fine.

I used to deliver in Kennewick, WA then go to Lewiston, ID to drop n hook, I still remember, It was really interesting to see it from the top of the grade the first time, then about halk way down, the smell. The DOT check point there is the only place I have had them come out with a measuring tape to check my axle length, Anyway I digress...... Beautiful site, but a really good drop to get in there. Then I think it was 95/55 down to Boise, snowing, that song slip n a slidin came on the radio I knew it would be an interesting night. Funny what you remember, dont remember any of the other trip thru there and there was many, but the first one, very vivid. Back in 2000 or there abouts.
