Help Wanted: Are carriers on the hunt for the "best of the best".Who's courtin' you?

I was reading in another forum today (only for a few minutes, okay?). There was talk there about drivers getting calls, out of the blue, from carriers they had previously been in touch with but, for one reason or another, didn't sign on with. I seem to remember a couple of posts on our forum along the same lines. Is this new or are carriers really doing what has been predicted they would do, i.e., terminating drivers who are a safety "liability" and courting drivers who can help them look better. There was also talk of better pay for these drivers. What's happening?
