I started with a 62 mph truck. Now I drive a 65 mph truck...or rather 64.5. I actually find it a decent cruising speed. Don't have to worry too much about putting on the blinker unless a prime or pumpkin gets in they way.

I could make a 600 mile trip in a day with 62 if I wanted to exhaust my 11 hour, but that's just stupid. Besides, after tarping and securing and driving 10-10.5 hours I'd rather deliver when I am well rested just because my company would send me to pickup again on dame day...too much work.

Anyone new to this industry needs to realize a lot of people on these forums are full of crap... You hear a lot more negative thsn positive because truckers enjoy complaining... The best advice I can give to anyone starting out... Find a company and stick with them for a FULL year... After that experience you will be able to find a better job... Your not going to make good money right out of school... That's a fact! Put your year in and you have a chance... Trucking is not rocket science but in my opinion you can do it or you can't...

Good advice here. A lot of the better paying companies want at least a year of experience. Getting it with your first company will not only look better on your DAC but also be a lot easier, or that first company you may find treat you better around the year mark and decide to stay. If you absolutely can't stand the first, six months is good enough to get accepted my most others but don't start a trend of only putting in six months. First six months and then everyone else after that at least a year or longer. Minimum. But I'd really try to stay with your first for a full year.
