how does the 10/2 rule work? I have to pick up a load at 20:00 tomorrow it’s 30mins away.

I’m parked on an on ramp tonight, I ran out of hours at a customer and was told to leave. I don’t want to stay here all day tomorrow.
My 10hr break will be up around 10am.

Can I leave at 10am drive 30mins to shipper. Take a 9hr break drive then take another 2 hours?
    How should I do this?

    FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

In that situation id say its best to just take a 10hr break at shipper if possible instead of an 8 hr break. That way it will reset ur 14 hr clock which is what u will be up against. But if a 10 is not possible. Then yes take a 8 hour break, at that time u will have 5.5 hours left on ur 14 . (14-8 hrs break - .5 hours of drive time) u can drive it out then take a 2 hr off duty or sleeper and then u will have hours back and ur 14 will reset to when u started ur 8 hour break i believe is how it works. Like i said if u can do a 10 at the customer that would be better as it will give u a fresh reset. Let us know how it goes
