The DAC is nothing but a joke. There are thousands of drivers who cannot find a job because their dacs have things on thems that is a lie either done by law enforcement or companies. In my case an officer lied on my dac and the sad thing is,when that happens we the drivers cant do anything about it.Congress, federal,or whoever knows this happens and they let it happen. Its there was of getting truck drivers off the road. Then you apply for a job,its impossible to prove your case because as they see it,if its on your dac you are guilty no matter what.I love truck driving but can I get a job nope because A few months ago an officer gave me a reckless driving violation when it should have been a no parking ticket.I found this out 3 weeks ago when a recruiter told me.I should have looked at the ticket when the officer issued it to me but I didnt.I wish all the truck drivers would get to gether and FIGHT because of things like this. Why not dispute it? Fight the ticket, etc.
It could be fun - I hear that in some places if you (for example) park on an on/off ramp they'll ding you for "failure to obey traffic signs" - essentially "reckless driving".psanderson Thanks this. -
What is DAC?
-
DAC was what USIS is now, a private company masquerading as a public agency set up as a way for trucking companies to quickly pull up information on a current or potential driver. Companies pay to subscribe to DAC, if they don't pay, they don't get to use it and it's used mostly to get out bad information about drivers. It also has a printout of your federal MVR.
USIS stands for United States Information Agency.mceheel Thanks this. -
A lot of companies have rules against parking on exit ramps. When I was at Knight they had a rule like this, called "sitting duck". They could charge you $25 if you were caught doing this.
This person should have realized this when they were issued the ticket. I mean they dont issue a ticket for "illegal parking" and then go and change it to "reckless driving". Always, Always keep a copy of your ticket. And Always, ALways, Always fight the ticket in court unless they have you dead-to-rights(which is rarely the case). Always. If you cant afford to go to court, then pay somebody to go to court for you--it is worth it. A fine is one thing, I know its tough and it's a pain in the wallet--but a fine will not keep you out of the driver's seat, but the points will. A lot of jurisdictions either will let you plead to a lesser charge(one with no points) and some will even let you go ahead and pay the ticket and if you dont get anymore tickets within a given amount of time(usually a year) then they will sign off on the ticket and not issue any points or any ticket for that matter. That was the 1 plus about Celadon is that they offered a Legal Plan for drivers at like $6 a week and most of the drivers took the plan. I know that all companies dont offer this, but all you got to do is pick up one of those trucking mags and there is proballty at least 3 that advertise in every issue. Take it from someone who has used them, it IS well worth the money.
BTW, your points are based on the state where your license is held. In otherwords if you get a speeding ticket in Michigan, and you live in ALabama-the points issued are based on Alabama rules not Michigan.vickw Thanks this. -
well that is informnative, i have a failure to yield with my car and seat belt violation, but i went a head and paid the bill. heck no since in fighting it i thought. i am even seeking a written statement from ddr's for the seatbelt. i am so tired of the itching and the dang thing trying to strangle me especially when putting on the brakes. or cutting into other parts of my body. i swear men invented them not us women.

You get fired now.

A seat belt ticket is not a moving violation, thus it carries no points. It is considered an infraction and infractions have no points attatched. When in your truck, use the seatbelt adjuster and make it as loose as you possibly can, I do--you can all but put a second person in the belt with me. ALso in most newer cars they have something similar. You do know that seatbelts are actually manufactured to somebody who is the heighth and weight that you would be at 12 years old--that is the federal standard. No Dr. will exempt you from the seatbelt, and no company will exempt you from the seatbelt since the Federal standard and ALL companies require a seatbelt be worn in ALL comercial vehicles and most states require them in ALL vehicles. I know people that have tried, and it wont happen- beleive me.
-
Actually, police are giving seatbelt violations for having the seatbelt too loose as the law in most states reads, "Seatbelt must be properly worn..." so yo need to be careful about having it too loose.
-
"properly worn" is subject to interpretation by the court, not the officer. As long as the seatbelt is being worn, how would they know if you were wearing it improperly? The adjusters are there for a reason, or they wouldnt be there. I was exaggerating a little in that "you could get another person in there with me" but I do wear mine a little loose, as do most drivers. I know drivers who never wear the seatbelt, in fact I know somebody who drove for almost 20 years that never wore it, and was never caught. He would just kinda strap it around, but never actually click it. As far as law enforcement was concerned, he was wearing it. Beleive me, when they stop you for a seatbelt violation--9 times out of 10 you are getting a ticket for soemthing else, they just happened to notice the seatbelt--BTW, seatbelt violations are the easiest violations to beat in court, since most people automatically unbuckle the belt when an officer stops them, therefore the officer can usually not say for 100% that you either did or didnt have it on--I know, been there done that. The only way that they will have you "dead to rights" is in an actual seatbelt enforcement roadblock, and even there sometimes is questionable.
