I have a cat 3406e and my jake brake not working like they should. After removing the covers I pushed each selenoid rear and middle ones work the one in the front of the engine does not engage the jake, I've tested the solenoid by running jumper wires from alternator and it makes the clicking noise it should. When the engine is running I push on it and oil flows from underneath it. So I'm not sure what could be causing the problem. Any help would be great

You check the switch behind the clutch? Sometimes if your clutch isn't returning all the way out when you release it, it'll still be in enough to keep the switch engaged, which in turn disables the jake. Are you still able to use the cruise control? If that's not working either, then that's probably the issue.

Sounds like you found part of your problem. Dont remember exact design but sounds like you need a seal kit in first jake.

Swap solenoids, if the problem moves with it replace it. If it does not look at at pistons on that assembly. Look for different oil flow on that set first.

Had one once that the front one did just like yours is and the front cam bearing had turned and blocked the oil flow with metal to the front jake.

Never thought of that. I just had a cam put in two weeks ago. So I guess I should bring it in and have it inspected? Or is it possible to find it myself just by looking?

I've swamped it with another solenoid but still does the same thing.

S*** that sucks. They may have got the geartrain backlash too tight...thats usually what causes the front and even the second bearing to turn. Id take it right back where u had the cam put in and tell them u suspect that their is no oil flow to the jakes and that it possibly has turned the Front cam bearing. first id ask them if they had to adjust the backlash in the geartrain and if they say yes ask them if its possible to get one too tight and see how they react.

Newby here, i’m having a problem with a chirp sound coming from the Jakes when they are on high. It usually occurs on the lower end of the RPMs around 11-13 and is very quick chirp almost like an air valve dumping. Does not make chirp noise on medium or low. Jakes work great just the chirp sucks.

Would really appreciate any help or ideas.
