I have alot of RF noise coming though the antenna of my semi. Here is my set up. I have a 99 KW W900L, 3406E Cat engine, Dx99V radio, Wilson 2000 antenna (SWR 1.3 on 1 & 40).

    Things I have gounded...

Engine to frame.. both sides with 2ga. braided strap... 0.3 ohms
Antenna to cab.. has good gound to cab... 0.3 ohms
Cab to frame... (1) 2ga. braided strap... 0.3 ohms
Radio to cab... 12 ga. wire 20in long (shortest rte. to gnd)... 0.3 ohms
Alternator to frame... 10ga wire... 0.3ohms
Power & GND.. 8ga wire to batt both PWR & GND.

The radio has a S meter of .5 when truck is off. Channel 19
The radio has a S meter of 4-6 when truck is on. Channel 19

When I Switch bands from HI to LO while truck is on the S drops to .5. It seems the truck just has noise on the 40ch on CB band. The farther I tune away the quiter it gets.

Do those ferrite chokes work from Radio Shack?
    How bout those .01 caps?

What else can I do? Do I have any other options?

Ok have you unhooked the coax and see what happens. If it goes away its coming from the antenna you need to slowly shut down the systems that are running till you find the one that is causing the noise. It may be alt or it may be injectors or it could be any one of a dozen things.

Yes, I have unhooked the antenna and yes it's coming in through it. I'm not sure how to isolate each item. I have a feeling it's the injectors. The static makes a "popping" sound. Kinda like when the pistons are firing.

The whole system is pretty much new. The most recent addition was the wilson 2000. The coax, mounts, and power wire are all within 2mo. old. The noise has been there for long time now. I can only hear about 3-4 miles. And thats even hard b/c of all the noise behind the audio.

I have tried different radio's and they all have that noise.

In the last few weeks I've been getting a lot of static on 19. To the point of were the meter will go to s6 all all you here is static then the meter will drop back down. The static will over-power the voices unless the drivers are within a mile or two. It will last for a couple of miles.
It doesnt do this on any other channel only on 19.
I have to squelch it out to almost 3/4.

Is your radio run off the batteries or another power source?

You can eliminate allot of back ground noise by going direct to the batteries.

I ran 8ga. wire to both the + and - terminals on the battery. That seemed to help a little. I also bought some Ferrite Beads from DX ENGINEERING. I put a couple on the injector lines going into the engine and even put some on the cb coax itself.

I seemed to get the S meter to a 0-1 most of the time. If I run my heater on high I will pick up a 1 S Unit. I want to put some more beads on the blower motor but haven't yet.

On a side note, with my SIRIUS on I will also and up to 2 S units depending on the day. I haven't figured out how to eliminate that one yet. All in all I am fairly happy with everything now.
