Just a little info. first on the situation. I am a new driver with less than a year experience. Have looked into company driving with all the big companies and not like what I see with most of them.
Anyway this is the situation, I have a local farmer that has truck and trailer on his farm that he doesn't use and told me I could lease his truck and trailer directly from him. The questions here are how would I go about this.
Do I need to get my own insurance to cover the tractor and trailer?
He said I could run under his authority.
Do I need to have truck put in my name to have insurance?
It is a lease to own deal.
Just need some info. on how to go about this situation.
Also he has already contacted some of his contacts about me getting freight and the told him they have freight for me to haul and he also has work for truck around farm for truck when no freight. Anyone know how I could go about this please give me some insight please! Probaly left some info out that I cant remember right now but I hope that kinda covers the situation.

Kind of sketchy info but here's the way I see it . As long as it's a lease purchase and he holds the title all insurance should be in his name . However , you can bet insurance costs will be figured in the percentage he contracts to keep for each load .
