Hello everyone, I'm sorry for asking so many questions here. I am waiting until Monday to call a recruiter and ask myself, but I would also like the opinions of others here.
What do trucking companies consider solid work history? I am 25 years old and currently working as a security guard and have been employed by them for exactly 1 year and 3 months now. Prior to this, I had many seasonal positions that only lasted 1-2 months tops. Will this prevent me from getting hired? I am looking at companies like Schneider and Con-Way. The reason being because one is LTL and the other is Regional, so hopefully more home time.
Also, what other companies hire newbies that pay well AND allow enough home time? Other than the ones I listed above, I'm having a hard time searching for other similar jobs that pay decent enough to make it worth it.
I'm not expecting to come into this industry and have it all, but I am just trying to make a wise decision.
Thanks for reading and appreciate any help I get.

No, they will ask for all work history for a minimum of three years as required by regulation and 7 additional years for time as a CDL holder. If you have no work history between employment time...note that on the application. If you went to schoolin that time period..list that time also. List the actual reason for not working for past employers and since you have over a year continual employment, you should have no issues.

You not going to find a well paying company that hires newbies. You'll make $350.00 to $500.00 a week with a trainer. You won't make nothing while attending school.Far as your work history is concerned, what companies care about is there is no gaps between jobs.If there is you need to fill in those gaps along with month and yr.

I called Con-way and Schneider. Con-way do not offer pre-hires to potential truck driving students, but Schneider does. They said to just apply and a recruiter would contact me about my credentials.
If I go schneider, do you guys think I will be over my head if I tried to go tanker? I want to eventually go into their Oil Field trucking, but it doesn't look like they allow newbies in that one.c64basic Thanks this.
