Ok so here's the story, I just finished CDL school and while I was there they had me sign up with us xpress before they would even train me so I signed the contract and the non compete agreement for a 12-14 month term and I got with my trainer yesterday after waiting a week and then he said that I would have to do team driving after I upgraded to a first seat driver and I expressed to him that I don't do well sleeping while someone else is driving it's a nerves thing and I told him that I didn't want to be a drowsy driver behind the wheel because I could crash. Well he told the company that I said if I have to team drive I will crash making it sound like a threat and that just rubbed me the wrong way how he twisted my words not to mention he was running on my clock because his clock had only 4 hours left and he told me to lie and say that I was driving. So the company told him to drop me off and sent me home. I'm tired of this Bs with the company already I feel like they own me with the contract and the non compete agreement. I want to go to a different company but don't k ow how to do it without getting into legal trouble I'm a trucker not a lawyer. If anyone could help me that would be great

That non compete thing is just bs that they use to scare you into staying there. They have no legal standing. They sent you on your way so go find you a good job.

CDL schools push US Express, Werner, and a couple others. They do this because they can't keep drivers; their turnover in drivers is beyond belief.
You didn't quit; you were fired.
Put some applications in to other companies and put the reason you left US Express is because they fired you. Do this with applications, not phone calls.
Don't even mention a non-compete clause. "What; that's the first I've heard about that. I was fired for reporting my trainer running on my clock because he wanted to do all the driving."

Two suggestions to get back on the road fast:
    Carolina Logistic - www.carolinalogistics.net
Craigslist - go on Craigslist website and even if you don't think you're qualified, start submitting applications and making phone calls. Leave lots of phone messages if no one answers. You'll be back on the road in a couple of days.

So, I guess being fired from US Xpress is a badge of honor, or a rite of passage in the eyes of legit carriers?

They didn't say I was fired they said that theyllt take care of everything and they're waiting on hr to clear me and then I'll have to wait on a new trainer

You'll be much better off if you just forget about US Xpress and move on to another carrier. US Xpress is the bottom of the barrel.

Get busy with the applications. Don't answer the phone when they call.
We try to warn new drivers on this forum about certain companies and certain accounts, but most think we're just old sourpuss and living in the past.

And then they find out the truth when they get out there and actually see and experience the types of drivers that are in those companies' trucks.

So if I'm getting this straight I can leave us xpress and go to another company and not have to worry about the non compete agreement all I have to worry about is paying the loan back to the third party loan company
