If You Want To Look For A Good Company To Work For. Try Going To www.Ripoffreport.com And Type In The Name Of The Trucking Company.
mind You Now Alot Of What Is There Is Mostly From Mad And Upset Students Who Are Complaining About One Thing Or Another. But You Can At Least Look It Up There And See What Is There About Any Company You Are Looking To Be With. I Ran A Few Different Companies And There Is 2 Big National Companies That I Really Couldnt Find Anything On.

Tmc
There Are A Very Very Few Others Who Have Not Had Much About Them On That Site. But Barr-nunn And Tmc I Really Couldn't Find Anything On.
I Have Had Problems With Companies Saying Since I Was Out For 5 Years, I Need Refresher Course, Then A Trainer, After Hearing Horror Stories From Soo Many People About Every Company, How Are The Ones On This Site Driving And Staying Afloat.
I Am Not Saying The Ones Who Have Complaints Are Just Complaining, And Not Saying The Ones Who Praise Their Company Are Kissing Butt, But It Seems The Truth Is Laying Somewhere In Between.
I Understand Every Company Out There Will Have Complaints, That Is Just The Way The World Works No Matter What Industry You Are In.
When I First Started Driving, There Was A Small Company In Iowa Who Ran Step-deck, And Wow, If I Could Go Back I Would , But I Dont Live In South East Iowa Anymore And Won't Move There Just To Work For A Good Company.
I Too , Like Alot Of Others On Here, Want To Get Back On The Road, But Wow, 5 Yrs Was Really Long To Be Away From Trucking, Now You Have Everyone Who Has Something Good And Bad To Say About Every Company, Horror Stories, Ripoffreport.com Has Things And Etc.
Its Really Hard To Say Where And What Company I Will Go With If Any Since Most Wont Look At Me For Being Away So Long.
All I Know Is This Is Really Crazy And Getting Worse By The Day.
Where Are The Days Of Old, When You Give An Honest Days Work For A Honest Days Pay. Where Are Those Companies At Now. I Bet If One Of Them Were Still Around, They Would Flurish And Everyone Would Love To Work There. I Can About Imagine How Huge That Company Would Be If Someone Actually Had One Like That. But Then Again, Life Is Reality And Dreaming Is Dreaming.

"Yeah, folks. Help wanted Ads. Every day of the world. Bubonic Plague. Bad. Run. Flee."

Looking at a company's turnover is the best way to go. Truck drivers are fiercely independent creatures who rarely act in unison. This is the reason the industry has sunk to the level it has. Truck drivers coming to agreement on an issue enmasse is as believable as a Nebraska unicorn farm.
But drivers DO act like cattle when it comes to turnover, and you'd be wise to watch the cattle trail. Some, and often these people are biased inside folks, will make the lame argument that only the bad-apple drivers quit companies. These guys are somehow personally "faulty", and the companies are blameless. ########. The sheer number of quitters involved blows that argument out the water. Sure, some quitters have attitude problems. But ALL do? No way. Most are good, hard-working guys who just want to be treated fairly and make a decent living.
So. What do you look for on the trail? Look for widespread, constant advertising, large orientation classes, an "abandoned truck fleet", and aggressive recruiting. One company out there is known for its recruiters pestering people with annoying cold calls, and they will not leave you alone after they start bugging you. The only way to make them stop is to change your phone number. Do I have to say this is a sign you need to avoid said outfit like the bubonic plague?
You don't want to be a mere replacement for last week's quitters at any company. High turnover tells you that such outfits don't appreciate the workers they already have, meaning you could very well hire on this week and then be among those quitting next week.
Sensible people never quit GOOD jobs. If honery, independent-minded drivers are quitting certain trucking companies in droves, there are good reasons. Taken in sum, those reasons scream those companies SUCK.
See you out on the trail. I'll be watching it like a hawk. -
That's quite a claim, jerryco....MOST? After reading this rubbish, I think I'll log onto Ripoff and see if I can get in touch with the guys who post about SwiftQuit. This is because I'm pretty #### sure you're full of dung. I'll find out for myself if guys posting there are a bunch of disgruntled, ax-grinding liars or even trolls. Not to worry. You won't have to rely on my own reporting of what they tell me. I'll send anyone I run into this way and let them post their own replies and add even more to the truth here. -
Well, I guess I have finally arrived. Tip, has resorted to his immature, childish behavior in starting to call me names just because he wants to continually rant the same thing over and over on here. Quite frankly, I don't understand why he is here other that to spout venom in childish ways any chance he gets, and it is always a broken record. By his own admission he has no intention of driving in the near future, if ever.
As for his misrepresentation of what I have been saying in his line "These guys are somehow personally "faulty" and the companies are blameless," I have never said the companies are blameless; but neither are the individuals. There are always factors on both sides in any disagreement. Problem today is that no one wants to take responsibility for their mistakes. It is ALWAYS someone elses fault. And his name-calling actions prove that he is one of those individuals. It is a process of making others look small to elevate oneself. The thing is that mature, reasonable adults see through that childish behavior and then consider the things said by that individual to be of little value. I believe people come on here looking for answers not broken records. -
Oh, yeah? Show me where.
And that is his privilege to do so, as long as he, and eveyone else, abides by our rules.
and your point is...???
True, but that's not the issue here.
I'll admit that some of this goes on, but as we always say here, one or two complaints can be easily dismissed. Several hundred, usually about the same thing, cannot.
I told you before, and will now tell you again. Show me where he called you any names.
Granted, some of us may be little more dramatic than others with their postings, but that does not give you the right to accuse others of name calling when there was none, so knock it off already. -
I have copied from his post and highlighted it for you so you can see what I am talking about: "That's quite a claim, jerryco....MOST?" My name is not jerryco it is jerryl. If this is the kind of talk you want to condone and encourage on this site it just cheapens the value of any information here. This site is becoming more and more like the tales told around the truck stop lunch counter which get bigger and bigger all the time. I must admit it has great entertainment value but, unfortunately many posts here do nothing to help someone seeking information. I have tried to point this out and even the staff of this site would rather put someone down who is trying to point ou the need for common sense and maturity rather than tall tale telling.
So I guess my question for you is, what do you want here a site where people can get real information and help in their trucking career or just a place where people can come and spout off (and sometimes the same thing over and over rather than trying to give a legitimate answer to someone's question)? If it is the former than it is time the moderators do something to tone down those who make posts that add no value to the information someone is seeking (i.e. continual ranting or calling companies names), if it is the latter than there is nothing that needs to be done.
You see, I not only frequent this site but also a similar site that is made up of serious truckers and O/O's. That site has people who are upset with a former company but that site also keeps things in check and the information there is much more valuable than what is found here. People go there asking the same questions that get asked here but there people give better answers without all the extra trash that is found here. As I have said several times lately, I come here primarily for entertainment (because for me that is all this site provides) and also to try to give valuable information to those who are seeking real help. -
Please... You're complaining about "Jerryco"?
Stop wasting my time, and yours for that matter.
You don't have to remind me that we have a wealth of information here. However, if you regard us merely as "entertainment", then may I remind you that there is myriad of other forums you can sign on with.
When Tip or anybody else decides to come right out and call you something in the profane, then we will gladly address your concerns. Until then, get over it, and stick to the topic at hand.
