That's still the fatal flaw of batteries, you can't charge them fast enough without shortening their lifespan and/or overheating them.

The other thing about current batteries is that there's significant portions of a battery's capacity that are left unused to extend lifespan. So every electric vehicle is carrying around substantially more battery weight that is only there to provide those buffers at the top and bottom of charge state.

Most of a gas or diesel engine's exhaust is water, too. Shouldn't be a problem so long as the exhaust temp is high enough that it's steam and not liquid water.

    1 gallon gas = 110k BTU
    1 Gallon Diesel = 140k BTU

    140kBTU needs about 34kwh if I remember correctly ?

that’s how the EPA estimates or calculates MPGe for electric vehicles.

So, correct me, if I'm mistaken, climbing up 6mi 6% hill at ~2 mpg will take 102kwh out of 1000? How long will rest 898kwh last then?

this is directly from teslas site.

Less than 2 kWh per mile

so to travel 6 miles we can say about 12kwh on flat land and let’s say 1/3 of the efficiency on a 6% grade your looking at 2mpg for 12kwh at 6 miles long, it equals to about 36kWh.

but I’m no expert on these things and if someone can correct the math.

Here’s the link to the specs.

That figure is from Tesla's website from 3 years ago which suggest 110,000 miles of driving would cost 10,000 per year in electricty. Why the 110,000? Because I dead head around 10% of my 100,000. Energy cost and inflation has gone up about 20% in the last 3 years.

When you purchase a truck new with cash, you can get this deal. The key is.....brand new truck, not used.

Many of the new Cascadia Ev 1's are getting right at 10 with.....keywords.....the proper specs. I've averaged 10.1 for the last 10 months. Guys, there is a dramatic and I mean dramatic difference in a truck 3 years ago and today, even with the Cascadia's. Power Inverters on board to reduce idoling, wheel/axle ratio, aerodynamics package, with a 2022 Cascadia with the proper specs, it's very common to get 10 mpg. The new Mack Anthem, when properly specd will get 9.3. I haul on average, 35-38K loads, occasionally less than 30, occasionally more than 40K, dry van, but average around 37-38ish, and I literally get 10.1. I'm OTR. Cruise Control? 90% ratio. I use cruise control literally, as of today, 91% of the time the truck is in motion and that cruise control never moves off of 61 miles per hour. 10mpg in 2022 in not uncommon guys. Disclaimer- I admit this, I run 90% of the time in the plains, so obviouslys this helps. KC, Denver, Amarillo, Dallas, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, etc. I'm running it about the flattest part of the country and I run at night about 80% of the time, so cruise control is much easier, less traffic, less hills, etc. This is clearly a huge factor in getting 10 mpg and I admit that.
