It's suppose to end up being online and no card to carry. Not sure when it goes into effect. The doctor goes online and enters your data and this will be available to every DOT in the U.S.
Here's a tid bit. I can't remember the details but they did a study and found that more then 50% of drivers forged their own medical cards. I use to park at a construction company. Out of 7 CDL drivers, 5 had forged cards because they can't pass the medical for one reason or another. The chrome shop near me in NH use to sell the blank medical forms for $5.00
here is your new drivers license????

In NH where I'm from we have a special form that you can't print. Not sure why because I can get a medical anywhere I want.
-
I have a valid med. card. I read I have to fax in the form printed online and my med card scan. Do I need long form or is the wallet card good?
-
I believe you need the long form, but that might vary by state. I would not drive a CMV until you take care of it, as of now you have no CDL so you can be charged with driving a CMV without a CDL, then you will get a big fine and suspension

chaz7r Thanks this.

In my state, I was changing the address on my license last year and the lady at the revenue office asked for my medical card. She made a copy and a couple of weeks later i got a letter stating that my med cert had been registered. No long form. I just showed the card. Small town, rural office though. Don't know what you big city guys might have to do.

You can still buy medical certificates/cards in some truck stops. I don't know if those will be available in the future since the medical card are now tied to your CDL. I would expect that there is a way for them to verify your medical card to check for legitimacy.

Yep it was the med card. I had to fax in a copy of my wallet card and statement I was out of state and unable to visit an sos office. I confirmed the fax and they immediately reinstated my cdl. Whew. Had heard nothing about the new regs. Thanks for the help guys
