Just get the VI book, not the log/VI combo :)

I was always told when running local to log when crossing state line so I was under assumption that it was dot regulation but that must have been company rule. That is what I get for assuming.

You need to be aware this is also 100 AIR-mile radius as well. Not just 100 miles out and back.

If they are requiring you to log state-lines, then it's likely for IFTA and not for logging purposes. Something entirely different.

There is a book that only has the vehicle inspection in it that I use all the time.

You don't need a log to show a DVIR.

No. 100 miles is 100 miles regardless of state lines.

I worked in Portland, OR for a year as a city driver. Routinely I would get sent across the bridge into Vancouver, WA. to peddle. Wasn't an issue.

That's for your company's tax purposes (IFTA). They have to record how many miles their trucks run in each state. Sometimes they'll want axle counts too like in OR.
