    Log books are a crock. If you need a log book to tell you when your too tired to drive, then you don't need to be driving.

    I know, I know...It's the law. Right?

    Well who ever keeps making up these laws need to be voted out.

    Well I'd be happy to go back to the old HOS or keep these if they would let us stop the clock and split sleeper again. The one thing about these that is nice is the 34 hr restart. Maybe they should give us the old HOS back but let us have the restart also.

    HOS is nothing but revenue - getters. Speeding tickets are also, and always will be, revenue-getters. Its BIG pot $$$. Must be some rubber room with real big fat guys in them JUST thinking this stuff up(really). State regulated or federal regulated, all the same, fill that fat piggy bank with do-re-mi. Its all outta hand and always will be. You get pulled over...they find nothing BUT he MUST cause thats his job. Ive been pulled over for the DUMBEST reasons and have them say "Well, everything looks good BUT no ones that good, just hold on".....its pathetic.

    Virginia is among the WORST. Of course Im bias, was in Norfolk Va for 4yrs in the Navy....got 1st hand look why they're still called "CommonWEALTH". sleep on a get-off ramp BINGO 60dollar ticket......In Kentucky, sleep on a ramp with TWENTY other bigtrucks NO PROBLEMO. Go figure. The states that hate truckers, well, they just hate us...PERIOD. DOT will never change and the Regs are created PURPOSELY to make us "sneak and break" the laws. Beleive it. Some are for safety sakes, we know that, BUT I said "some". Its sad when ya see a Greyhound going 80 in a 65 and it can haul 66 people maxed out and we go 5 over and here comes the Pooper Trooper. They can wipe out an ENTIRE Generation while we can squash a family of four. In TEN YEARS driving, Ive witnessed 4, thats FOUR Greyhounds just B****slapping the speed limit and Stokie just watches him and pulls out behind us and follows THEN puts on the discos for something stuuuuupid like a headlight out versus a BIG HOG going at the speed of light.

    How many trucks do see over the side of a mountain versus the Greyhounds???? I rest my case....

    Those Greyhounds flipped over in the wash are doing their part for the Darwin Awards.....

    When a Greyhound gets a ticket they send it straight to Greyhound, similar to a photo ticket. So the driver gets to hear aboutit from the company. I prefer to get it first it I have to get one.

    You should all look at the HOS that airline pilots deal with. Trucking is simple by comparison.

    You start with:
    1,000 hours in any calendar year;
    100 hours in any calendar month;
    30 hours in any 7 consecutive days;
    8 hours between required rest periods.

    Then there are times when you can exceed the 30 hours, some flight time doesn't count toward any of it, some flight time counts toward the 1000/yr but not to the 30, and on some international stuff, you can fly longer, but you then have to take a longer rest period.

    It gets a little crazy sometimes. :)

    And how many Greyhounds have you seen run into parked trucks ? They don't have the sense to move over a lane when they see something on the shoulder .

    You will never see the split sleeper again . Public Citizen will never accept anything less than an 8 hour break .
    All off duty time is meaningless . FMCSR can't mandate rest . You can ride bulls in amateur rodeos , chop wood all day , climb mountains or participate in any number of activities that have you coming back on duty more tired than when you went off .
