So the flashing signs and posted signs he blew by mean nothing? What about when the bridge is closed for repairs (not sure if it is yet) and those signs switch to 'bridge closed'? Are the same dipsticks still going to blow by them and then ponder what happened when they get to the bridge?

Simple fact is that the driver is to blame 100%. He blew by lit signs and posted signs stating the bridge limit. New or not. It is HIS job to pay attention to his surroundings. Has nothing to do with Swift at all. Just an inattentive driver who could have very well driven right into some other posted restriction and injured someone.

actually its 31 miles from interstate to interstate. But i'd take 146 and save myself 20 miles. 100 miles what randy mcnally map are you using?? besides, if i'm anywhere near the tip of Ill....lets just say Metropolis for arguments sake, and was headed west to Ft. Smith, AR. I'd actually take 45 to 51, going thru TN, then I-155 to i-55 down to i-40.

but the funny thing is, when i plotted metropolis to ft smith, it did take me directly over that weight restricted bridge. But STILL....you weigh 80k and see a sign that says 30k max....only the dummys would still cross it. he deserved the ticket.

That is definitely the truth. Total moron driver. He probably headed straight to a casino to make the money to pay the ticket.

My question is "how was the driver routed", assuming he's been solo for two weeks? However, since he stopped to ponder his predicament, he should have erred on the side of caution and not continued. I do feel sorry for him, as this ticket will take him years to pay off at .26 cpm, that is, if he still has a job. If Swift routed him this way, the ticket could be their problem.

    >>>>but dummy, you should have double checked your route.

If it's in the RM Atlas as a restricted route AND/OR clearly marked at the site, than this will be the first thing I agree with you on...

It WAS a truck route until Nov. 23 2010. Damage was found and assessed. THEN restricted to under 15 tons. As of JAN 11, 2011 CLOSED to all traffic for repairs until late 2011 maybe into 2012.

    Bridge closed unti further notice.

Besides a big warning on my dispatch thru the area, my company routing routed me around it back on Jan 6.

Big electronic signs in the area gave plenty of warning... However no alternate route or truck detour signs to be seen anywhere.

Over $500k in fines in about a month. That thing was a money maker!
