i don't know if you'll like trucking, but to answer your housing question as best as I can: you'd have to maintain residency somewhere. If you do not have a place to have mail forwarded, there are services set up to help you maintain a permanent residence via PO box or something.
So, yeah, you could give up your apartment and live in your truck for as long as you are willing to stay out.
Your other questions are too subjective for anyone to really answer.
Here's some info about me - so, am I fit for trucking? Also, other Questions..

Well said, but I wish the op the best. Probably wouldn't tell your future employer that you plan on living in the truck, just do it.TripleSix, Puppage and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this. -

The experience with manual car transmissions is probably negative or neutral. You use the clutch in completely different ways between cars and big trucks. You will likely fall back on car experience until the truck procedures become second nature.
It won't keep you from learning in a truck, but you would be best to forget the car way and not adapt the car way to the truck. In the truck you only push clutch about 1/3 to 1/2 down toward the floor to change gears. Only when you are stopped and/or changing direction do you push the clutch all the way down to engage the clutch brake. -
As for living in your truck, Its very possible in this industry. I know several drivers over the years who did just that. Never had a place to live. Their home was wherever they took their off time.
If they wanted to get away from the truck for a day or two or so, theyd just find a secure place to park their truck (truckstop, terminal or whatever) and rent a motel or car and do what they wanted to do. These days though, it would be best to clear it with your boss first because of load security and stuff.
Most worked for larger companies that had multiple terminals so they could park their trucks on terminal property. Good Luck.Giuseppe Ventolucci Thanks this. -
Must be a generational thing because I've never been able to sit thru a single one of those guys talk. Even the woman with the glasses. -

I love just how easy it is from some people here to freely judge everyone else.
Besides... Gaming is something one can actually do in the truck. Unlike hunting, fishing, and taxidermy ... You know, the things Twue Twuckers do in their free time. -
There are many female 37 year old gamers, just saying lol. I live In my truck and get paid to take resets. And when the truck stop wifi sucks then I'll resort to playing ps4, other wise I just prefer to relax n watch netflix.
Friday, Giuseppe Ventolucci and Chinatown Thank this.
