I know... I hate being forced to drive like that too. Normally I would have been a 1/2 hour later than what I was, maybe an hour and adjusted my log book. What is the big deal? I was fine. Instead, I have to drive like a punk that just stole a truck to placate some idiot somewhere in DC that has no clue about operating a commercial vehicle in a safe and efficient manner. Safety my rear end.
hey brokers, has elogs changed business/rates etc?

Mark my words this is going to break HOS. I don’t think this was on corporate lobbyists radar. I bet it is now.

It’s stress racing the clock in a gov’d truck making multi stops, figuring out where to take my 30. Will I get to a shipper in time before they go to lunch? Which fuel pump do I get on to get fuel quickly, or losing 20 mins starting off today airing up a flat. Then there’s waiting on my load to be billed out, getting held up due to wrecks, traffic, trains.
My job is different than yours hauling automotive expedite, or my dad hauling flats, Or someone hauling O/D, cows, etc. I can sleep 3 hours tonight and run 600 miles tomorrow without a nap or coffee, it’s just how I am. Some of my coworkers like to take naps.
I’m just pointing out what we all know, that this industry and these drivers are all different, each situation is different, and it makes no sense to have a “one size fits all” approach.
When I was a cop, I could work double shifts and no one batted an eye. So I roll my eyes when I hear someone mention safety, the HOS is a simple thoughtless approach and it’s backed by big money so it’s not going anywhere soon.DOGSLIFE, W900AOwner, lilillill and 2 others Thank this. -
I said here before, I've been telling my contacts (in a nice way) it's time to pay up. Pass the cost onto the consumers, let the produce rot on the dock because the buyers don't want to pay.
No sweat off my back...
In fact, I'm more rested now, making more money and working less since the ELD mandate went in effect!
Long live the ELD! Hail to the special interest groups, lawyers, politicians & bureaucrats who shoved this down our throats!freightwipper Thanks this. -
Did a kanas city to Chicago for $4000 last week, yesterday same load posted for $5000. Broker said he can't get trucks, it's like they all disappeared.
W900AOwner and Scooter Jones Thank this. -

Guys will be like, "what? You want me to haul watermelons for $2.50 a mile? Take a hike!" LOL

Another thing I've noticed in the last couple of weeks is brokers sucking up to me now hoping to get my truck
It's a beautiful thang.spyder7723, whoopNride and freightwipper Thank this. -

Didn't say it was "bleak". That's what you read into my post. I only stated facts and a few of my opinions.
As far as I'm concerned, bring the #### storm on this industry, then maybe, just maybe we get paid what we're worth, brokers too.
By the way, I'm an aging white male that can work most of you here under the table
