Op, why did you buy the truck first and then came here for an advise and not the other way around? Anyways, good luck

A LOT of people make the mistake of ONLY looking at purchase cost rather than OVERALL cost, which of course includes breakdowns, parts, labor, time lost, jobs lost, reputations hurt.

At work we got a 2014 maxforce in the lease package we took on last month. I got stuck with it the first day it showed up. That slug added a full hour to my 480mile turn. Speed average dropped from 55mph to 45mph on the same load & route.

It didn't happen to me but by the middle of the weak that thing couldn't hold oil pressure despite only having 28k on the clock. It was sent back to the dealer and came back "fixed" and by the following Monday I got stuck with it again. Even though the dealer said it was "fixed" it still threatened shutdown with low oil pressure.

That was the last day we ran it. I convinced them to send it back the lessor; the writing was on the wall for that one.

These days most brands of engines are pretty good it really comes down to personal preference if you look after your engine it will look after you. Personally though i prefer Cat engines they really have a history of good performance.

There are no simple problems on the internationals! Brothers Lone Star is in the shop at least once a month. I joke with him , he needs to just leave a car at the shop full time so he has a ride home. Constant AC issues, nonstop wiring problems , emission BS. Would love to trade out , but 30 k upside down?

    Oaker Thanks this.

Sadly yes! Durn fool could bought a Western Star cheaper! Paid 156k for the POS . The Star he is looking to trade on is 4k cheaper then what he paid a year ago. Tried to warn him about International , but in his words "it's pretty". Ok enjoy.
