Remember now, I just started here and am merely passing along what I have been told and/or seen on paper. The home time policy seems to be flexible. I don't think it's anything like what we've both experienced with the megas. The 3 bonuses I mentioned are not part of the 37 ct. They are additional. No per diem either.

Heyl runs out and back runs from the florida terminal.. A couple of years ago my friend had no trouble getting the bonuses for idle fuel and 28K miles every 3 months... and most of his runs were florida to the midwest or texas... only did a couple of runs to the northwest. He was home every 10 to 14 days for 2 or 3 days off.

My dispatcher actually did ask how long I prefer to stay out. I prefer 14-24 days as I have never struggled to get miles with previous carriers on that time line.

Wow, looks like you got off to a rough start with Heyl. I kinda started to feel bad for telling you how great my experience was with them.

My dispatcher was Travis & he did everything he could to make my life easier...he was and still is the best dispatcher I have ever had. Weekend dispatch was another story altogether.

As for calling shippers & receivers, I always would if I was going to be early. I figured if they didn't want me to call their customers then they wouldn't include the phone number in the dispatch info. Anyways, nobody ever got upset with me for making my own arrangements to deliver early & I usually would have a load ready as soon as I sent my empty call. I would let Travis know as soon as I knew I could deliver early so he could start looking for something else for me to do. That was another reason I loved my short time at Heyl, they let me handle my own business & didn't try to babysit me, huge change from a mega-carrier.

Hang in there xlsdraw, it WILL get better. If I ever decide to go back OTR, Heyl will be my first phone call.

Hey xls, are you on e logs with your truck or not? They say most trucks are running those, wasn't sure I know you have one of the older trucks.

Yep I am on Elogs. My truck has Bluetree. Some of the trucks have People net. I think there might even be a 3rd system as all 3 of us in orientation trained on something different. I really like the Bluetree.

Have not heard of Bluetree. Hope you don't mind, have a few other questions. Ok so does Heyl have designated fuel stops? Do they give or force you to take a certain routing? And what is their policy on chaining? Thanks.

Heyl does tell you where to fuel and how much fuel. They do not route you but essentially your fuel solution does. I don't know If they have any flexibility on that or not. So far been mostly Love's with some Pilots and Js. Every company I have worked for issued fuel solutions. Also a few of the toll roads may not be allowed unless instructed to use. Chaining is expected from what I hear but so far the loads have not been tight on time. I always run immediately upon being issued loads like this trip I took an extra 4 hrs this morning waiting for better conditions and still arrived 30 hrs before appt. I welcome the questions and appreciate others chiming in as well. Again my time here is brief so far.

Thanks for all the info, I like to hear this from drivers not just recruiters. The few times that I've called Akron recruiting I've not been on hold longer than 3 minutes or at all for that matter.
