38,000 for 3 months equals 12,650 a month... or 495 miles a day for your 25.5 days a month... still not running hard, still setting at deliveries and pickups....
Now you say you were required to give up the auburn load, and saying you could make it... but earlier you thought it was questionable if you could make on time delivery. You will find the long runs to the northwest will always have an extra day on them... weather. And there are always more empty refers than loads in the northwest. So expect a day between delivery and pickup.
Want to run hard, need to run into the midwest and back... shorter loads, but more freight, more loads, or run to texas and back, again more loads.
With refer I always planned on a wasted day a week of waiting on a load. And it used to be I could turn that into a reset, and when I could not, I just ran recap, until the opportunity to reset came up. There were many days I would deliver a load with 5 hours left on my 70... Plenty of time to leave where I staged, get unloaded, and return to a place to park, until the next days hours of 10+ rolled over. Then I could run hard again for 4 or 5 days, before getting short on hours.
So as you said maybe refer is not for you, as there will always be waiting in the refer business.

You say running 495 a day is not running hard correct? Your words. Wouldn't that make the 415 I have averaged this trip, 100 % due to scheduling, Disappointing? Your tenor on a few occasions has been defensive when it should appear that in no way am I attacking or defaming my employer. What gives with that? I am sharing my experience exactly as I see it. That will not change. The #s and info indicate there has been a 34 or more on almost Every delivery appt. Not just the cross country loads. Regardless, many drivers would be content with what I experienced so far this trip. I can only render my perspective.
double yellow Thanks this. -
I received a message on my Bluetree this week that 250 dollars will be deposited in my account next week for a driver coming aboard. To the best of my knowledge I have not recruited anyone. I did not recognize the driver's name. My only guess is that this thread must have given a positive impression. The company said Thanks in the message. Some people must appreciate driver's experiences being shared honestly as we see it. No fiction one way or the other.
jparm and Weeble Kneeble Thank this. -
Yes 415 average is disappointing... I was trying to point out that 495 is NOT drop and hook, but includes loading and unloading also. Sorry if you find my comments based from my experience, and what you say hear as defensive.
You want to run hard in the refer business as a solo driver, then you need to stay where the freight is, and that is NOT the northwest. I know you have little control over where you go.xlsdraw Thanks this. -

Hey xlsdraw does heyl have regional freight out of Florida?
-
Heyl has 2 Florida fleets from what I have heard. One is Tropicana dedicated and I believe you need to live fairly close to Bradenton. The other is local/regional. Don't know anything about that one.
-
One of our posters Zip is on the Florida local/regional fleet. You can pm him.
