I never go by weekly. I go by a running total of daily average. Total paid miles driven divided by total days tied to the truck. 401 is the number thru 50 days. That is a pace of low 120s for a year. I usually run 305-310 days a year. This is far below the mid 130s I normally do. Averaged 439 at Crete. AND several Heyl drivers have said the miles go Down in the summer. Probably due to the citrus run ending in Florida would be my guess.

Congrats on finding such a good gig down here. Just how grueling is your lumping? Can you describe? Are you a young buck?

I'm just wondering does Heyl have a drop yard or something in Montgomery IL? I saw an add saying they hire within 50 miles of that city.:smt017

I have no clue on that one. Did it say OTR, Regional, or Local. I haven't been up in that area yet with Heyl. The within 50 mile thing is typical as they prefer equipment be left at a terminal during home time.

    ran 16,927 loaded & 2,054 empty (18,972 total) miles in 47 days a 403 per day avg

no great runs other than a KS City to Renton WA

seemed like March was alittle slow with 11,519 according to my monthly mpg report

I know that Heyl picks up at the Tyson plants in the Ottawa area, which is also in the ad. Montgomery, area is the Kraft foods distribution centers, which Heyl also picks ups.

My weakest #s were that 1st year as a newbie with Conway Truckload. 410 paid miles per day. I always attributed that to me being a newbie. With Knight I ran at 420 paid miles per day. With Crete, it was 438.78 to be precise. Knight and Crete didn't mind me pushing them for the miles. Actually, I got the impression that they appreciated it. Relationships grew. I am not getting that feeling at Heyl. Bottom line is if they are not willing to work with me to get the #s up significantly, it would be foolish to stay. Making money overrides all the other positives. 130k-135k @ .41 or .42 cpm > 120k-125k @ .37 cpm. The difference is too great. I am guessing that it is easier in the dry van world to funnel miles to an ambitious driver than it is in Reefer with all the set appt times. Hence no hard feelings on my end if I leave as long as I am treated professionally.
