What type trailer are you going to be pulling?? If it is a flatbed, you can mount the antenna on the headache rack. If you go to mirror mount, be sure to ground it to the frame with a seperate ground wire..

For the most part, I'll be pulling dry van trailers. There is a possibility that I'll be pulling flatbed, lowboy, and or stepdeck sometimes as needed. Although the truck doesn't have a headache rack, It just has a metal box for straps and stuff.
There has been a lot of concern from others on the net about mirror mounting any HF antenna, especially a screwdriver, but I've seen a lot of them mounted in that fashion. -

! Priced about the same as the DK3 except the materials are better quality. I think the DK and POZ antennas still use the PVC coils. That "Carolina Cyclone" uses nylon thru out and will accept up to full legal limit SSB. PVC will MELT if you put too much juice in it....or shrink, in which case you now have an expensive slinky toy!
He doesn't advertise much, but makes a pretty darned good antenna in two versions--so far resisting the urge to fool with the 'mini' screwdrivers. The smaller one is 2 1/4" coil with #14 wire wound at 8 TPI; the DK and clones are about 1 1/2", #16 wire at 10 TPI. The bigger one, similar to the Predator, is 3" dia with #14 wire and 8 TPI! Both antenna are a real "stomper" down on 40 and 80. And, again, if you are adventurous, you can mount the thing up inside the sleeper across the back with the whip nearby on a ball mount (?). Check out the Carolina Cyclone--I "know" the guy!
With screwdriver prices sky high--and I don't really understand that (much of that is pure profit!), IMHO most SD units are a holdup pricewise.:smt026 Now don't get me wrong; they are FINE antennas, but one doesn't HAVE to pay $350+ to get a good signal on HF!
