Send a PM to Cookie. Her hubby runs HH in your area. My info is out of date.

Sumner HH is primarily a hub and spoke (out and back) operation. Most load runs are under 300 miles. Search for Swift Sliding pay scale on Google to get the pennies per mile; they pay more on the short runs. HH is dedicated to Costco (for the outbound legs), most common backhauls are paper rolls, liquids like coke etc. The Seattle area is handled by Costcos daycab fleet, Swift handles the stuff over 100 miles. A lot of the of the return trips are T-called at Sumner for later delivery.

A typical day would be 150-250 miles out, live unload, DH to next location for preloaded swap, and return to Sumner. You will get some local runs in Seattle as well to round out the paycheck, typically at hourly ($12). After a year, I averaged $700-800 a week. Hometime was a 34 on weekend, normally Sat morn to Monday morn.

I meantioned the Sliding payscale above. That's where a HH driver makes his bread. Of the 40 or so Costcos (each taking 2.5-3.5 loads a day) only 4 are beyond 300 miles (Cour d Lane and Lewiston ID, Medford and Bend OR). Most Costcos have space behind them for parking for a 10, with Bend and Medford being a PITA without resting areas.

With your living area, there is a Coke plant over in Bremerton. That would make a good Hometime delivery for you (deliver, take 34, start new week).

As I said, my info is out of date having been gone for 1.5 years. Crosscheck with Cookie as I said above.

Hubby gets home most weekends. As Palazon said, usually saturday morning until monday. Runs were a bit slow the last few weeks, but are picking up. All in all, hubby is happy.

    jdsouza and Palazon Thank this.
