Can a truck driver take Allegra-D? I know that Allegra is allowed but it does not clarify with Allegra-D. In the fall my allergies get horrid and my doctor tells me to take Allegra-D. I have asked my company and they said that “as long as it dosent make you sleepy or cause drowsiness it is okay” but I’m not sure if I can take their word on this.
Hi! A quick question!

Your good. When I was an active driver my doc prescribed Hydroxyzine Pamoate (I still take) for the sometime real serious problems I had/have with hay fever. In my case it was so bad that simple Benadryl would not touch it. Hydroxyzine Pamoate makes YOU very sleepy and its effects can last for 14 or more hours. I asked at every one of my physicals about this and the examiner was OK with it as long as I was tolerating it well.taodnt Thanks this.

Ask your doctor.

try and time it best to take it at your 10 hr break.
kinda hard i know, i have all sorts of allergies as well.
but for me, i take dayquil. but if i have to, if no dayquil is available, like i ran out, i also take tylenol severe cold/flu pills and they are non-drowsy as well.
just try and get non-drowsy formulas for driving times. -
More and more I find myself telling drivers to do just this. This sometimes also means a Medical Examiner.

When I first started driving, I was taking that same thing for seasonal allergies. I disclosed it on more than one DOT physical and was never even asked about it by the examiner.TruckingSexy Thanks this.

I take Claritin D during this time of year. I’ve been drug tested and pass.
