when im not struggling to keep the repo man from the rig, i enjoy chasing work..

the anticipation of chasing it, then trying to make a good impression is what i strive for.

Sorry,I miss read what you said, I thought you OWNED your truck, as in not paying it off, do you have your own trailers or just the prime mover? I haven`t read all you posts so I`m not to sure what you have been doing.

sold the trailer off 18 months ago.. along with an almost paid for Western Star.

That was a bad move. but i tried to exit road transport..

Circumstance prevented my effecyive departure, so i ended up with the best i could find for cheap.. a signature powered Iveco.

If some things go my way, i will either be US bound, or i will have a b-double to go with it, and i will build me a nice truck and put a driver in the iveco.

THIS IS I WORKED OUT SO FAR:biggrin_2554:
Based on a 5 day week doing Brisbane local work
    Fuel useage approx $120/Day
    Tyres $6/Day
    Oil and filter $11/Day
Fuel filter and Air filter, fan belts grease ($2/day)
    Wear to - Engine, gear box, diffs, ($50,000.00) = $0.01/km ($2/day)
    Wear to - Clutch, brake shoes & drums, shocks, wheel bearings,etc ($5,500.00) = $0.02/km ($4/day)

NOT INCLUDING TRUCK PAYMENT & INSURANCE & REGO - local work (avg $120 in fuel a day) would have to be a min of $55/hr + gst just to make $30/hr:biggrin_25510:

At least you`re out there having a go Dan, as long as you get the bills paid and a bit left over you should be alright.

Dave, is that $30 profit or do you have to pay yourself out of that, I`m not an owner/driver so I don`t know to much about it either.

thats $30 that i make/wages (what every you want to call it) after all expenses, but you also need to add on truck payment, rego and insurance which would be close to $3.50/Hr would cover insurance and rego if you did a 50hour week. But you still have to add the truck payment.

Dave, I think you need to put in you truck purchase price but divide it by 3/5 yrs then add that yrly figure in with the Rego/Ins and everything else then work it all out to give you a realistic hourly rate, otherwise you will be out of pocket.
I think that`s how they work it out, just from talking to other people.
Agent86 might tell us if that`s right or wrong.

    AUSSIE DAVE Thanks this.
