..at the time I joined this site a few years back, I was planning to get my CDL Instead I went to school to take brushup courses on office work, blablabla
I want to meet some folks here though because if anyone knows our highways, truckers do. I am taking a job in Wyoming, PA (well, near there) and I will need to drive cross-country from Roseburg Oregon to PA. I will be 60 this month and am a bit nervous since I have not driven far for quite a few years. I want to take 80 and would appreciate any feedback on that route this time of year. I expect to leave within the week.
I do have a good, little truck, brand new tires and I will be getting a set of chains as well. Just me and my little, dog Toto (just kidding). His name is Coop (Cooper).
I hope you all won't mind me asking here since I am not a trucker. Whenever I travel, I have always felt safe when I see the big rigs though and like I mentioned earlier, I know you guys/gals know the route.

28 views and no replies? I guess that tells me I am "barkin up the wrong" tree here. That's ok, I'm sure I'll find people that will give me some feedback on travel cross-country
I've unsubscribed and trying to close the thread
Sorry to intrude.

You might have to be a little more patient. A lot of drivers might have time to read some posts, but not have time to reply immediately. Give it a little time and I'm sure that you will find plenty of pros here willing to help you out.
Stand by and I'll try to find a better place for your thread so that you might get more views/help.
Edited: Let's try it here. -
How fixed are you on your departure date? If you can be flexible 2-3 days, you can probably monitor the weather and leave at a time where the previous storm has melted, roads have cleared, etc, but before the next one moves in. They typically move west to east or NW to SE and the trick is to leave ahead of the next storm but long enough after the previous for the roads to clear.
That said, your trip could be easy and pleasant or it could be torturous ... all depends on the timing of the winter systems to roll through, typically with about 4-6 days between them.
perhaps monitor this website ..
