I just wanted to say hello, I've been reading this forum for a week now and am very impressed with the people on here. I am considering taking CDL A training and joining Trans Am, I currently have my CDL B with air brake and passenger endorsement because I drive a Church Bus. I'm laid off from the auto industry and everyone says I'm over qualified for any other job, meanwhile I watch my family go without and my bank account go dry. Anyways, hopefully I'll see you on the road.
    Thanks for having me!!:biggrin_25525:

Thanks Cybergal, I will continue to check everything out, I've been reading threads for awhile and as fast as I can come up with a question I find someone else who already answered it.

Hi gadgets. I start training at Class 'A' tomorrow. I already have pre-hires from Werner, Falcon, USA Truck and TransAm. Where are you getting the 'A'? My wife wonders why a guy as smart as me would want to drive for days on end. Evidently I am over-qualified, too! :biggrin_2554:

And BTW, you are already a trucker in my book. Getting the 'A' is like getting a type rating in an aircraft. If you fly a cessna 172 you are a pilot. If you fly a 777 you are a pilot - of a bigger plane!

You're in prime expedite territory . Your CDL B will get you in an expedite straight truck . Check with Panther and FedEx Custom Critical for info on fleet owners needing drivers . Expedite is a whole lot better lifestyle . You get to pick your loads and no long waits to load or unload .

JFR, I'm going to American Pride in Jackson for training, they are convenient to me (about 6 miles from home) and they seem like honest people, they didn't try to tell me that it's a great time to start or I'll get rich or anything. I've gotten pre-hires from Werner and Trans-Am, I'd like to get in with a flat bed company because I am very experienced at rigging, loading and unloading trucks, and tarping loads plus with all the road repair/ construction going on this summer I think flat-beds are going to be very busy this year.

I'm not so sure about expediting, I've been watching two expedite trucks sitting down the road from me for over a week, I'm sure they are not getting paid to sit. I'm also not so sure about getting locked into team driving forever either, it seems like all of the class b expediters run teams only.
Thanks for the input though, I really do appreciate it.
