I am, as my handle indicates, an old guy who has recently been made a victim of the poor economy and find myself without a job. I worked for my previous employer for 18 years in I.T. and, frankly, I am sick of cubicle life and am going to try something different. I'm going to be starting CDL class soon and we'll see where things go from there.
I've been hanging out here for a while and I know that it's not a good time to try breaking into the trucking business, but right now is not a good time to try breaking into ANY business. And I guess anything is better than nothing. Hopefully, the trucking industry will be one of the first to pick up once the economy starts to rebound.
Anyway, I'm not sure I can contribute much (besides questions), but I expect to gain a lot from the wisdom and experience of the experienced members of the forums.

Welcome to the Forum, you are right, things are tough all over, it's going to be really tough to get in anywhere as inexperienced with a new CDL.
There are many people on with lots of viewpoints, maybe you can get a way in with insight from some of them, good luck to you.
